We have been using these bags for 15 years to keep not only our own gear organized but also our guests. These custom style bags are made perfectly to fit side by side in a vertical position in our panniers. Since they are square sided and rectangular in shape there is no wasted space. With the flared opening it allows the user to pack it full but still be able to close the heavy weight zipper. The front of the bag has a very convenient and purpose built pocket that is intended to be used for the small items on your adventure.
When we go on any trip we require everyone to have one of these. Each person is allowed to bring anything they can fit in one bag for a multi day trip. When I do week long elk hunts each person is allowed two. This allows myself and guests to pack efficiently and not bring excess gear. You will find these bags being a staple not only on your backcountry trips but also day to day use for other needs. We personally use one from ice fishing trips to road trips.
